Life Is a Gift

Today
before I say an unkind word - I must think of someone who can't speak.

Before
I complain about the taste of my food - I must think of someone
who has nothing to eat..

Before
I complain about my husband - I must think of someone
who's crying out to GOD for a companion.


Today
before I complain about life - I must think of someone who died
too early on this earth.


Before
I complain about my children - I must think of someone who
desires children but they're barren...

Before
I argue about my dirty house someone didn't clean or
sweep - I must think of the people who are living in the streets.


Before
I start whining about the distance I drive, I must think of someone who
walks the same distance with their feet.

And when
I am tired and complain about my job - I must think of the
unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had my
job.


But
before I think of pointing the finger or condemning
another - I must remember that not one of us is without sin.


And when
depressing thoughts seem to get me down - I must put a smile on
my face and think: I am alive and still
around.
